This instrument is designed to clamp vessels to reduce or completely block blood flow during surgery to allow the procedure to continue in a certain anatomical location where the blood is no longer able to flow through. These clamps feature an angled shanks as well as jaws calibrate at 5 mm intervals. Additionally, this instrument is available in three sizes: small, medium and large to accommodate a variety of patient sizes and a the wide variety of vessels that this clamp can be used on.

This is often done in cardiothoracic surgical procedures to prevent the patients from losing an excessive amount of blood during surgery. This pattern features longer jaws and a longer overall length for cases where additional reach is necessary, as well as straight jaws and shanks which are designed to provide a firm and stable grip once they have been affixed to the site where the clamping is needed.
