This rib approximator comes equipped with extended three-pronged blades which gives it better gripping ability during rib approximation. A ratcheting mechanism with a large dial are used to set the claws at variable spreads and then bring them closer together.

This aluminum spreader has two arms which seamlessly transition into the attached blade structures. The arm and blade design on this instrument give the blades more length than traditionally thus transferring the pressure over a larger surface area and causing less deformity in smaller patients delicate structures.
