Cooley Caval Occlusion Forceps 8-1/4" (21.0 cm) Cooley Caval Occlusion Forceps are specially designed vascular clamps for use in cardiothoracic surgical procedures. This instrument is designed with ring handles for ease in maneuvering and opening and closing and also a ratcheting mechanism to hold the forceps at a particular tightness. The most unique feature of these forceps is that each jaw features a half circle projection outwards which when the jaw is brought together forms a complete circular opening as well as the fact that the entire instrument is formed in a crescent type shape. This instrument is available with a number of different diameters to the opening in the jaws in 2 fr. Increments from 24 – 40 fr.

Although this instrument does not have one particularly function but instead is a multi purpose clamp that can be used in a variety of different instances. The miniature size of this clamp makes it more able to reach certain vessels but also makes it better suited for use in smaller patients. This clamp comes equipped with jaws calibrated at 5 mm intervals and is available in three different angles 30, 60 and 90 degrees.

Cooley Coarctation Clamp - 9 3/4" 7.0 cm long straight jaws, straight shanks, 9-3/4" (24.8 cm) Cooley Coractation Clamp is well suited for use in cardiothoracic surgical procedures that necessitate total or partial occlusion of a vessel. This is often done in cardiothoracic surgical procedures to prevent the patients from losing an excessive amount of blood during surgery. This pattern features longer jaws and a longer overall length for cases where additional reach is necessary, as well as straight jaws and shanks which are designed to provide a firm and stable grip once they have been affixed to the site where the clamping is needed.

This instrument comes equipped with fully curved jaws making it particularly well suited for use in clamping vessels close to the diameter of the iliac vessels. The scissor grip handles and the ratcheting mechanism for keeping the clamp in place allows for this clamp to stay securely in place through the surgical procedure but is gentle enough to keep from injuring the vessel walls.
